  9. named Joachim and Anna. Mary (Hebrew Miriam)
  10. married Joseph and accompanied him to
  11. Bethlehem. Roman Catholic doctrine assumes
  12. that the brothers of Jesus were Joseph's sons
  13. by an earlier marriage, and that she remained
  14. a virgin. Pope Paul VI proclaimed her `Mother
  15. of the Church' in 1964.
